In total there are 5 families in Louisiana who will be achieving their dream of a new home:
Webster Parish/Springhill, La.
1. The house being built with Brandi and Travis Page is a “green” home. Travis works for a power equipment distributor and his wife is a nursing student. The energy cost savings will enable Brandi to continue with college and help them save for the futures of their four children.
2. Minnie Hawkins is a Wal-Mart greeter and Fuller Center volunteer who lives in a 500-sq. ft. shack with two teenage grandsons. Her home is nearing completion and will be dedicated during the anniversary build.
Shreveport, La.
3. Delisa Robinson was working offshore when her 16-year-old son was evacuated from New Orleans. They lost everything to Katrina and lived in a shelter for over a month. After five years, Delisa’s life finally has a chance to return to normalcy.
4. Yolanda Braziel is a restaurant cook and mother of seven. After losing a good job over a year ago, she moved her family into her grandmother’s vacant home that is rife with problems. The new house will uplift her children and their futures.
Northshore, La.
5. Delores Black lost her home to Katrina and has been living in a trailer on her vacant lot ever since. This is a very special project, because Delores is the mother of Beverly Black, our very own director of development.
